Video showing drugged man traveling freely in Mumbai local’s ladies coach goes viral, netizens react

New Delhi: A concern-raising video from Mumbai’s local train showing a suspicious drugged man traveling inside the ladies’ coach has been lately making rounds on Social media.

In the viral footage, the strange man can be seen consuming something (allegedly drugs) while standing right at the edge of the doorstep of Mumbai’s local ladies’ coach. He is also spotted keeping his handkerchief in his mouth again and again during his illegal as well as dangerous ride inside the local train.

The man’s weird behavior in the video makes it look like he is intoxicating himself by repeatedly sniffing a substance from his handkerchief.

The clip was shared by a female passenger of the train who secretly recorded the man in the act with her smartphone and then posted his video on her Twitter (Now X) handle to draw the attention of concerned officials, authorities, and police on the same.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the user named Samruddhi Thakre shared the video and wrote, “System Need to be changed, Kindly Notice from Railway Ministry, Maharashtra Government & Mumbai Police”

Internet reacts

Soon after being shared, the video went viral on the internet and caught the attention of curious netizens who took to the comment section and gave their reactions on the same.

One user wrote, “He is sucking drugs, hidden in a handkerchief. + Traveling in ladies coach. Please take strict action…”

Another said, “It has been going on for years, even when Congress was in power. The umbra,kurla, govandi youths are always seen consuming whitener drugs. You are playing politics on it now because you’ve seen a video of it. A regular commuter would know but you look like a newbie.”

“This is not one incidence…Kurla to govandi mankhurd ..u can see this daily”, added a third person.

Besides netizens, the viral video also caught the attention of Central Railway authorities who tagged the official Twitter handle Divisional Railway Manager while asking him to look into the matter and take appropriate action. Mumbai police too reacted to the viral video and tagged the Government railway police to take cognizance of the matter.

NCP president reacts

NCP president and Lok Sabha’s MP Supriya Sule also replied to the viral post while raising questions about women’s safety in the city as well as the worsening situation of drug addiction amongst the youth.

She wrote in Marathi, “This footage of a young man traveling inside women’s compartment not only depicts the pathetic situation of women’s safety in the city but also explains how easy it is for the youth to access and consume drugs freely.

“Such dangerous activities can only be curbed if the Railway Minister and Government of Maharashtra work in coordination and take necessary legal action against the offenders.”The political leader’s statement read further.
