What is the National Teachers Awards 2024? Who are the awardees of this year?

New Delhi: 5th September marks an important day in the educational calendars across India as it is celebrated as the birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, or Teachers Day. Teaching is considered one of the most noble professions in society, but it plays a detrimental factor in the development of any society. 

So, to celebrate the contributions of this profession, a unique award has been installed in place by the Ministry of Education. The awards are installed by the educational ministry and will be given by President Draupadi Murmu. The Ministry of Education has released the below statement, stating the importance of the Awards-

The purpose of the National Teachers’ Award is to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and to honour those teachers who, through their commitment and dedication, have not only imrpoved the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students…

The teachers who have been selected are chosen through a three-stage selection process. Furthermore, the awardees come from different geographical territories and social backgrounds, comprising 28 states and 3 UTs.
