New Delhi: A eight-year-old girl, Devanshi Sanghvi who would have inherited a multimillion-dollar diamond fortune had given up her worldly luxuries to become a Jain Sadhvi.

She became the youngest individual to take the Diksha ceremony. To become a Jain monk, she up all material possessions.

Pictures and videos of Devanshi Sanghvi have gone viral on the internet.

After completing her initiation rituals, Devanshi Sanghvi can be seen wearing a white dress, which you might have seen Jain monks wearing. She is also seen smiling after the ceremony.

Who is Devanshi Sanghvi?

Devanshi Sanghvi, the elder daughter of Surat-based diamond merchant Dhanesh Sanghvi gave up everything to embrace monkhood.  Her father, Dhanesh Sanghvi is the owner of Sanghvi and Sons, which is one of the world’s oldest diamond companies.

Devanshi planned to join monkhood after she was attending 367 initiation rituals which inspired and motivated her to give up worldly life.

According to her family members, the 8-year-old Devanshi never watched television or a movie before.

Also, she has never eaten at a restaurant or hotel.

A grand march was brought out in Surat for the ceremony where elephants, horses, and camels were also seen.

Her family members are followers of Jainism and Devanshi followed the path and always prayed three times daily.

After she embraced monkhood, she is now known as Sadhvi Diganthpragnashreeji.
