Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officer Sanjay Arora appointed as Commissioner of Delhi Police with effect from August 1, 2022

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officer Sanjay Arora has been appointed as the Commissioner of Delhi Police with effect from August 1, 2022.

He will succeed Rakesh Asthana as Police Commissioner of Delhi.

Currently, he is serving as the Director General, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), but now it has been given to SL Thaosen, Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal, as additional charge.

According to the orders of the Union Home Ministry, Sanjay Arora who is from the 1988 batch of IPS, will be officially taking the charge from August 1.

 

About Sanjay Arora’s Education?

Sanjay Arora, did his graduation from Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Sanjay Arora’s Professional life

1997 to 2000: He commanded a border guarding ITBP Battalion in Matli, Uttarakhand.

1997 to 2002: He served in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on deputation as Commandant.

2000 to 2002: Sanjay Arora made remarkable contributions in the field of training, serving as Commandant (Combat Wing) at the ITBP Academy, Mussoorie

2002 to 2004:  He served as the Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city.

Last year in August, he became head of the ITBP as the 31st chief of the force.

Awards and Achievements:

In 2004, Sanjay Arora was awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

In 2014, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, Police Special Duty Medal, Antrik Suraksha Padak and UN Peacekeeping Medal among others.
