New Delhi: In a major crackdown on Rohingyas illegally occupying land in Delhi’s Madanpur Khadarpur area, the Yogi government on Wednesday razed the illegal structures spread over 2.10 hectares of land.
This piece of land belonged to the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department and were encroached upon by Rohingyas. Yogi government’s stern stance and action on illegal structures & occupations in the state is clearly known. Many illegal buildings of land mafias in the state have been demolished in last few years.
The evacuation of Rohingyas occupying UP government land has already led to a verbal duel between AAP govt & UP govt, with the latter accusing former of facilitating ‘land-grab’.

Rohingya camps bulldozed in Delhi’s Madanpur Khadar
Today morning around 4 am, bulldozers with a team of UP irrigation department reached the spot and demolished the structures over the piece of land. The land valued at Rs 150 crore was a major bone of contention between Kejriwal & Yogi govt in last few days.
As per reports, the UP irrigation department has over 1,000 acres of land in areas like Okhla, Jasola, Madanpur Khadar and other adjoining areas. Out of this, over 20 acres of land has been infringed upon. UP govt official said that all encroachments will be vacated and squatters will be thrown out.
Earlier in March, a similar action was taken by Yogi govt where it freed about 6 acres of land in Sarita Vihar, another prime location of the city.
