‘YouTube channel is my new address’: Ravish Kumar tweets after quitting NDTV, netizens share mixed reactions

New Delhi: After Pronnoy and Radhika Roy, the founders and directors of NDTV, resigned from the media company, their star anchor Ravish Kumar also decided to quit. Ravish shared a tweet saying that he will now continue on his YouTube channel. The series of events followed Adani Group’s takeover of RRPR Holding Pvt Ltd, which gave them a 29.18 per cent stake in the company. Though the Roys have quit as the directors, they still hold a 32.26 per cent share in the firm as promoters.

Ravish Kumar, known for his fearless reporting and anti-establishment stand is now shifting to YouTube. In his tweet, he wrote that the public is included in his being. He said that his YouTube channel is his new address and everyone has to fight against ‘Godi media’.

This has invited various reactions and memes on Twitter.

Some called it ‘end of an era’ for TV news.

While there were some who looked unhappy with the decision.

Ravish Kumar resigned and NDTV Group President Suparna Singh informed her colleagues about the news. Ravish has anchored several shows on NDTV which include Hum Log, Ravish ki Report and Prime Time. For his work in television news, he has been twice awarded with the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award and the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2019.
