New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference on Friday after four top Supreme Court judges took on the Chief Justice, claiming that the situation in the apex court was “not in order”.
Congress President described the concerns raised by SC judges as “extremely important”, and sought investigation into the death of judge B H Loya by the “highest level” of the apex court.
“Unprecedented points raised by the honourable judges need to be looked into carefully. Even Justice Loya’s case must be looked at by the highest levels of the Supreme Court. All citizens are looking at this issue, it needs to be addressed”, Rahul Gandhi said at the press meet in Delhi.
The Congress also issued a statement where it said the issues raised by the four judges were “extremely disturbing” and have “far-reaching consequences for values we hold sacred”.
Earlier in the day, four Supreme Court judges called a hurried press conference where they publicly criticised Chief Justice Misra over distribution of cases and raised concerns about judicial appointments, in an unprecedented public airing of problems.
