New Delhi: Raksha Bandhan, which is said to be one of the biggest Hindu festivals is celebrated every year, this day symbolises the love between a brother and a sister.
According to the Hindu calendar, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of every Monsoon season. Raksha Bandhan, symbolises the eternal love between the siblings. On this day sisters tie a protective thread (Rakhi) on their brother’s wrist and pray to God for his long and prosperous life.
However, in return, the brother promises to always protect his sister from all the troubles, and also present her with gifts.
This year there is a confusion on the date on weather Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 11th or 12th. According to the Panchang, this year the full moon will be falling on both the 11th and 12th August.
So this year, the festival of love between brothers and sisters will be celebrated on Thursday, August 11, 2022, while some will also be celebrating it on Friday, August 12, 2022.
