FIFA world cup: England to battle it out against Croatia in 2nd semi-final
New Delhi: England will battle it out against Croatia in the second semi-final of the FIFA World Cup at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow tonight. The match will kick off at 11:30 pm.
England will be eying to reach the Final of the World Cup for the first time since 1966, when they had lifted the trophy on their home soil. Croatia, on the other hand, have never made it to the Final. Their previous best performance was in 1998 when they reached the semi-finals.
Tonight’s will be the eighth meeting between the two sides. England had won four of the previous 7 games, while Croatia clinched two, and one match ended in a draw.
Semi-final winner will face France in final
The winner of tonight’s game will play France in the Final slated for Sunday. France had defeated Belgium, 1-0 in the first semi-final last night, to reach the World Cup title clash for just the third time. Samuel Umtiti’s header was the lone goal of the match.
France have won the World Cup just once in the past, in 1998 at home. The third place match between Belgium and tonight’s losing team will be played on Saturday at Saint Petersburg.
