New Delhi: One of India’s cement manufacturers, JK Cement is all set to host a special edition of the JK Cement SwachhAbility Run in Kanpur on December 23rd.
According to a press release the JK Cement SwachhAbility Run was conceptualized in support of two extremely important causes – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship initiative of Swachha Bharat and inclusion of people with disabilities as equals in the society.
The Kanpur leg comes close on the heels of the third edition of the JK Cement SwachhAbility Run across five cities of Rajasthan which saw participation from over 17,000 people.
Over 7,000 people, including 6000 school students are likely to participate in the Kanpur edition of JK Cement SwachhAbility Run. After the run, the participants including divyangs will also help run a cleanliness drive.
The JK Cement SwachhAbility Run draws its inspiration from the spirit of selfless service, epitomized by The Indian Army and is the brainchild of Kargil War veteran, Major D P Singh – India’s first blade runner and a Limca Book of Records holder, who has more than 18 marathons to his credit.
Mr. Yadupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, J.K. Cement Ltd says, “Kanpur is the city where it all started for us. Its where our heart is. After three years, it gives us great pleasure to host this special edition of the JK Cement SwachhAbility Run in Kanpur. The spirit of the run is to take marathons beyond tier-1 cities to smaller towns and encourage people to participate for a cause.
The JK Cement SwachhAbility Run epitomizes all that is great about us as a nation—the spirit of serving, and of furthering the cause of inclusiveness. I invite all of Kanpur to lace their shoes and join us on the 23rd December for a great run.”
The event includes two categories of runs – 5km and 3km. 5 km run which is a timed race, is open for all to participate, however in order to encourage more participation towards the cause, 3 km run will be done alongside especially for school children and for anyone else who wishes to run a shorter distance.
JK Cement is bringing the run to Kanpur with the support of Rotary Club of Kanpur Gaurav. The Company is grateful for the support received from the Indian Army and has partnered with non-profit organizations like ‘The Challenging Ones’ and ‘Flags of Honour’ to drive this initiative.
JK Cement SwachhAbliity Run has taken the shape of a revolution over the last three years with participation of over 40,000 people across 17 cities in Punjab, Haryana, Goa, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.
