India’s hammering in Chennai…
Talking about the match, veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had an amazing day in the office after picking up a 6-wicket haul for 88 runs. Earlier, Ashwin had scored a blistering century to bail out India from a tough situation.
Bangladesh eventually lost the match with a huge margin of 280 runs to hand the Indians a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series. After asking India to bat first, Bangladesh had the upper hand in the game in the opening half of the Test match. Right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud ripped apart the Indian top order.
However, Ashwin’s fighting knock added to the resilience shown by Jadeja saved the men in blue from setting a below-par score. Eventually, the Indian innings ended at 376. In reply, the Tigers scored only 149 courtesy of a fierce pace attack led by Bumrah.
This gave the Indian team a huge lead which was even widened by the twin centuries of Rishab Pant and Shubman Gill. Eventually, the visitors were tasked with the herculean task of chasing 515 runs in the fourth innings. Subsequently, Ashwin stepped in with his partner in crime, Jadeja and the duo scalped 9 wickets together to seal the game for India.
Squad for Kanpur Test
Interestingly, India has drafted the same squad for the 2nd test which is set to take place in Kanpur. The Kanpur Test is going to be the penultimate Test match in the India vs Bangladesh test series. However, there might be some twerks in the playing XI which will depend on the conditions.
