Adam Zampa overtakes Mitchell Starc to become….

Adam Zampa has overtaken his fellow Australian left-hand bowler Mitchell Starc to become the leading wicket-taker in the T20 Internationals.

New Delhi: Adam Zampa has overtaken his fellow Australian left-hand bowler Mitchell Starc to become the leading wicket-taker in the T20 Internationals. Furthermore, Zampa also became the first Australian to break into the 100 wickets column in the T20Is. Zampa accomplished this wonderful record after a magical spell of 4/12 from his quota of 4 overs.

A longtime server for Australian cricket, Zampa has emerged as the number 1 spinner for the Aussies in the white ball. In the last 17 T20I matches that he has played, Zampa has scalped 31 wickets at an average of 11.93 and an economy of 5.96. The willy leg spinner has the best bowling figure of 5/19.

Furthermore, Zampa has also found his place alongside the greats of the T20 WC- all-rounders Shakib Al Hasan & Shahid Afridi and Sri Lankan pace superstar Lasith Malinga.

Leading wicket-takers of Australia

Zampa is the first wicket-taker from Australia to reach 100 wickets. In the 83 matches that Zamps has played, the leg spinner has managed to keep an average of 21.46 and an economy rate of 7.20! In a game which is brutal for the bowlers and more so the spinners, these figures are quite astonishing.

Let us look at the other Australian bowlers who are in the top 10 wicket takers from the country in T20Is.

Australia’s ruthless attack against Namibia…

Australia’s ruthlessness on the field scuttled the entire innings of Namibia in Match No. 24 of the T20 WC. In the bowling, a thorough performance of Adam Zampa along with Marcus Stoinis and Josh Hazelwood broke the back of the mainstay of the Namibian batting.

On the other hand, in the batting a blistering knock from Travis Head alongside David Warner and captain Mitchell Marsh ensured that the paltry total of 74 was chased within the powerplay.

With this win, Australia propels to the top of Group B and puts one more foot towards their qualification for Super 8.
