New Delhi: Dhiraj Bommadevara who won his Round of 32 match to storm into the Round of 16 has been knocked out of the Round of 16 against the Canadian archer Eric Peters. Bommadevara and Peters fought till the end as he lost the match 6-5. The match was decided through a shootout as the set points of both the archers tied at 5-5.
At one point Dhiraj was leading the game 5-3 and some Indians were even celebrating. However, Peters hit a perfect 10 to ensure a tie-breaker and eventually win the game 6-5. It was a hard-fought game for the Indian archer as he missed the quarters by a whisker!

On the other hand, in the women’s individual event of the Round of 16, Bhajan Kaur managed to win against Poland’s Wioleta Myszor in 3 straight sets. Kaur thoroughly dominated the game to win the game right from the start to win the 3 sets- 28-23, 29-26, 28-22.
Bhajan Kaur will now square off against Diananda Choirunisa of Indonesia on the 3rd of August to book a place in the semifinals.
