Asian Cricket Council take cricket to a different level; inaugurate Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup

New Delhi: In a recent step taken by the Asian Cricket Council, the cricket council has decided to inaugurate the Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup in an attempt to boost the preparation of the women’s teams for the upcoming U19 World Cup.


The decision came in a recent Executive Board Meeting that was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Current ICC Chairman and former BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah was very optimistic about the steps taken by ACC as he remarked-

Today marks a pivotal moment for cricket in Asia. The introduction of the Women’s U19 Asia Cup is a monumental achievement, providing a much-needed platform for young women cricketers to develop their skills and showcase their talent. This initiative strengthens the future of women’s cricket in Asia, and we are proud of the lasting impact these decisions will have, not only within our member nations but across the global cricketing community.

Without disclosing much details about the tournament, Jay Shah has just remarked that the Women’s U19 Asia Cup will be held biennially, serving as a key tournament before each ICC Women’s U19 World Cup.

India’s upcoming challenge…

Although the Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup will be one of the most innovative steps in women’s cricket, the women in blue have a more uphill task at their disposal. The women in blue are set to compete in the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for which a strong side has been handpicked and will be led from the front by Harmanpreet Kaur.
