Bangladesh create history in Rawalpindi; complete 2-0 series whitewash against Pakistan

New Delhi: Bangladesh has written the most beautiful and important chapter of its cricketing history, thrashing Pakistan by 6 wickets to complete a historic series whitewash in Pakistan. With 185 runs on the board to chase down in the second innings, the Bangladeshi batsman chased down the total 25 minutes before tea on the fifth and final day to complete a 2-0 series sweep.

The Tigers achieved their target at the expense of four wickets- Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, skipper Najmul Hasan Shanto and Mominul Haque. Interestingly, the winning runs for Bangladesh were hit by former Bangladeshi skipper Shakib al Hasan who had toiled hard all through these years to witness something as remarkable as this.

Shakib was accompanied by his partner in crime Mushfiqur Rahim who was also a long-time server of the Bangladesh cricket over the years. Rahim hit a marvellous 191(341), missing out on a well-deserved double century.

However, it was the remarkable recovery of Bangladesh which became one of the mainstays of Bangladesh’s win against Pakistan in the 2nd Test.

Remarkable recovery from 26/6!

At 26/6, the Pakistan Cricket team finally saw a ray of hope as they thought they could impose the “follow-on” on the Bangladeshi team. However, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz and wicket-keeper batsman Litton Das ensured the visitors did not fall behind.

The duo stitched together a remarkable partnership of 165 runs to pull things right back in the favour of the Tigers. In the due process, Bangladesh also saved themselves from registering the lowest score in the Test cricket history of Bangladesh.
