CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan hints at a possible return of “Thala” for IPL 2025

New Delhi: As one more season of IPL comes to an end, every CSK fan is surrounded by the enigmatic question” Will Mahendra Singh Dhoni continue for one more season with Chennai Super Kings?” Everyone believes that this was the last edition that MSD was seen in the yellow jersey. However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan believes that he is hopeful for a “Mahi” comeback next year as well. 

Dhoni has already led the Yellow Army to five IPL titles so far. However, this time “Thala” had stepped down from the captaincy role to allow a young captain Rituraj Gaikwad lead the side. Under the captaincy of Gaikwad CSK ended in fifth place on the points table.

“I do not know. It is a question which only MS can answer….”

Amidst all the speculations surrounding MS Dhoni’s retirement, Vishwanathan has made it clear that the final decision of retirement rests on Mahi and the same will be respected by the franchise. “I do not know. It is a question which only MS can answer…As all of you know, he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time….” Naturally, it is clear that if MSD thinks of going ahead with the mega auction scheduled for next year, the franchise will undoubtedly retain him.


As of now, it can be said for safe that there are still some pages left in the chapter of Dhoni retirement saga. Last year the 42-year-old former Indian skipper said that he would return once again to thank the fans who have been an ever-loyal supporter of the franchise for the past 16 years.


However, this year the farewell for “Thala” has not exactly gone in the way the players and fans would have wanted. Naturally, the question again arises, will Dhoni play one more year and end his fairytail with a proper finish or will the 42-year-old finally say his goodbye and slide into the sidelines?
