New Delhi: Indiaโs astounding form continued on Day 5 with both Deepika Kumari and Lovlina Borgohain winning their respective knockout games. Lovlina who is the defending bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics won the game 3-0 to reach the quarterfinals.

The Indian boxer won the game 5-0 in three rounds to win the bout. Borghoain who changed her weight category to 76kg was given a direct pre-quarter entry after winning her bout with a clean sweep.

Lovlina will now face Li Qian from China who is the defending silver medalist of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Qian defeated Hergie Bacyadan 5-0 to register a thumping win over the Filipino boxer. Li who has won bronze in Rio 2016 and silver in Tokyo 2020 will also look to upgrade her medal to gold.
The match between Lovlina and Li will happen on the 4th of August in the 1st Quarterfinal.
Deepika Kumari wins a close shave against Reena Parnat
Trailing 5-3 in the game, the poster girl of Indian archery, Deepika Kumari hit a perfect 10 to take the match into the tie-breaker against Reena Parnat from Estonia. In the tie-breaker, Deepika hit the arrow 123 m from the centre while Parnat hit the arrow 143m from the centre thereby losing the important tie-breaker.
Deepika Kumari will now take on Quinty Roeffen from the Netherlands in the Round of 16.
