Dhoni becomes 5th Indian player to score 10,000 runs in ODIs

New Delhi: It is another feather in the cap for the Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. MS Dhoni became the fifth player to score ten thousand runs for India in One-day International Cricket.

Starting the innings at 9999 runs, Dhoni took seven deliveries to reach the landmark on his way to a patient 51.

Dhoni thus joined an elite list of Indian cricketers who had previously achieved the feat, which include Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli.

In 330 ODIs for India, the wicketkeeper-batsman has now over 10,050 runs at an average of 49.75, including nine centuries and 67 fifties. Overall, Dhoni is the 13th player in history to score 10,000 runs in the ODIs.

On July 6 2018, a day before his birthday, Dhoni reached another milestone as he became the third Indian after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid to play 500 International matches for India.Dhoni has received much criticism of late for his deteriorating form in the limited overs cricket. In 2018, the former captain managed to score only 275 runs in 20 ODIs at an average of 25 without a half century.
