‘Golden Boy’ Neeraj Chopra qualifies on the first throw of 89.34m at the finals of Men’s Javelin at Paris Olympics 2024

New Delhi: India’s ‘Golden Boy’- Neeraj Chopra has qualified for the finals of the men’s javelin at the Paris Olympics 2024. Chopra qualified for the finals of the Paris Olympics on his first throw just like he did back in Tokyo 2020.

Following Neeraj’s qualification, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj’s arch-nemesis also qualified for the finals with a throw of 86.59 m. However, Nadeem was soon overtaken by Anders Peters of Grenada who was also the winner of the BAUHAUS Galan (the Stockholm Diamond League competition) back in 2022.

 

Nevertheless, Paris 2020 has already seen Viktor Axelsen successfully defending his gold medal from Tokyo. Can India’s Neeraj Chopra etch his name on that historic list? Meanwhile, Kishore Jena’s 80.73 could not earn him a ticket to the finals as he slumped to a 9th-place finish.
