Harshit Rana dropped from the Test side against New Zealand for Ranji team commitments!

According to the latest reports right-arm pacer Harshit Rana is set to be released from the current Indian test squad which is set to play the third test against New Zealand in Mumbai.

New Delhi: According to the latest reports right-arm pacer Harshit Rana is set to be released from the current Indian test squad which is set to play the third test against New Zealand in Mumbai. Originally a travelling reserve, Rana is set to join the Delhi team and will play against Assam in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024/25 season.

Following the unavailability of Navdeep Saini, the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) has requested Harshit’s services. Saini was called to the India A squad touring Australia. This has made the right-arm pacer unavailable for the Ranji Trophy.

While situations have made Rana’s joining the Delhi squad unavoidable, it will be a good training ground for the right-arm pacer to get some red ball practice under his belt. Rana will be joining the team for the long Australian summer down under where the men in blue will be playing the 5-match test series against the Aussies.

Harshit joins Nitish Kumar Reddy as a travelling reserve released by India to play for their Ranji side. Reddy was released to play for Andhra against Gujarat. Harshit has previously played nine first-class matches, picking up 36 wickets. He has even scored a century with the bat.

India will be playing the penultimate match of the three-match test series against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium on November 1. Earlier, the New Zealand team achieved the memorable feat of winning a test series in India after 69 years.

When will Delhi play against Assam in the Ranji trophy?

Delhi face Assam at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, October 26. The match will go on till October 30th i.e. Wednesday.
