According to reports of the passers-by and the bystanders, a half-naked man was seen scaling the Eiffel Tower.
The issue which quickly turned from a public spectacle to a security concern led to swift action from the authorities. Subsequently, the tower authorities closed down the Eiffel Tower just hours before the closing ceremony.

According to the Associated Press, the entire incident which was printed in publication was “An individual started climbing the Eiffel Tower at 2:45 p.m., police intervened and the person was detained.” Some visitors who were trapped due to the security measures were allowed to leave 3o minutes later.
The Eiffel Tower is not part of the closing ceremony. However, due to prompt security reasons, the entire building was sealed off to ensure the safety of the shirtless man.
