New Delhi: Pakistan’s debutant Leg Spinner, Abrar Ahmad, has had a magical spell today on Day 1 of Pakistan’s second Test match vs England on Friday. In his spell of 22 overs, Abrar gave just 114 runs and managed to snatch 7 wickets from the visitors. Pakistan restricted England to 281 runs and the sessions were completely dominated by Pakistan. Earlier, Ben Stokes had won the toss and elected to bat first against the hosts.

As for England, Ben Duckett and Pope played good knocks of 63 and 60, respectively but it wasn’t enough in front of Abrar’s storm today who was the highlight of the whole Day 1.

Who is Abrar Ahmad?

Abrar Ahmad is the mystery spinner of Pakistan who played his maiden test match on Friday. He was born on October 16 in 1998 in Pakistan’s Sindh Province. His later moved to Karachi for a better life. The 24-year-old cricketer is also famous for his nick name Harry Potter.

The left-hander, who bowls leg-break, destroyed the English batting lineup with his googlies. Abrar now holds the record of being the 13th Pakistan bowler to take a five-wicket haul on his Test debut.

The 24-year-old made his t20 debut for Karachi Kings in Feb 2017 in the PSL. In November 2020, he played his maiden first-class match from Sindh, in the 2020–21 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He was added to the test squad of Pakistan’s national team in November.
