IPL Mega Auction: Devdutt Padikkal remains unsold! As Pant creates history…

New Delhi: Left-hand batsman Devdutt Padikkal who last played for the Lucknow Super Giants has gone unsold in the IPL Mega Auction.

Earlier, Padikkal burst onto the IPL scene with a stellar debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2020, where he was the team’s leading run-scorer. His impressive performances earned him accolades and a spot in the national setup.

However, Padikkal’s form took a sharp decline towards the latter end of his career in RCB which led to his transfer to Rajasthan Royals. After moving to Rajasthan, Padikkal’s dip in form continues with his inconsistent form and strike-rate issues becoming areas of concern.

In the 2024 IPL season, Padikkal scored 248 runs in 12 matches at an average of 20.66 and a strike rate of 121. He made his India debut in July 2021 in a T20I  against Sri Lanka and has also played for the India U-19 team. Currently, the left-hander is playing in Perth for the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy where he had a horrid performance in the two innings played so far.
