IPL: Mumbai Indians beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 runs

Kolkata, May 14: Kolkata Knight Riders’ play-off fate hangs in balance after suffering a defeat against Mumbai Indians in their last round league match at Kolkata last night.

MUMBAI INDIANS HARDIK

Mumbai, who are already through to the play-offs, consolidated their position at the top of the table with 20 points after their 10th victory. Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 9 runs at the Eden Gardens.

Chasing a target of 174 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders managed to score 164 for 8 in stipulated 20 overs. Put in to bat, Mumbai Indians posted a challenging total of 173 for 5.

For Mumbai, Ambati Rayudu smashed 63 runs off 37 balls and Saurabh Tiwary set the foundation with a 43-ball 52. Tim Southee, Vinay Kumar and Hardik Pandya took two wickets each for the Mumbai Indians.

Manish Pandey scored 33 runs and Trent Boult took two wickets for Kolkata Knight Riders.
