A long-time server of Indian hockey, Sreejesh recently retired from the senior team after defending the Bronze medal in the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024.

Recently, Hockey India released the list of players travelling to Malaysia for the annual tournament.

The PR Sreejesh-coached side will begin its assignment on Oct. 19 against Japan before facing Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia in a round-robin stage. The top 2 teams from the group will go on to play the Final.

Captain Ali ready for the ‘Litmus Test’

Captain Amir Ali who was part of the senior camp in the recent triumph at the Asian Champions Trophy in Moqi, China looks optimistically at the forthcoming tournament as he sees the Sultan of Johor Cup as the perfect litmus test for the young brigade.

The Sultan of Johor Cup is an important tournament in our calendar as always. The tournament will serve as a litmus test for the team ahead of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup Muscat 2024 in November this year…

Amir was drafted in the side for the injured defender Sanjay who was ruled out of the squad just before the Asian Champions Trophy. Besides Amir, Gurjot Singh will be another important player in the tournament. Like Amir, Gurjot was part of the senior team in the Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
