In the post-match conference, skipper Rohit Sharma said:
Unfortunately, the ball hit straight on his knee cap, the same leg on which he has got a surgery done. So he has got a bit of swelling on it. It’s the same knee on which he got the surgery…
The board has not yet made any official comments on the extent of the injury that Pant has suffered. It now remains to be seen whether the left-hander returns to bat in the second innings or will be sidelined from the entire series. In the absence of Pant, Dhruv Jurel who replaced the left-hander on the second day will continue to keep the wickets for India.
Rachin returns to his ‘roots’ in style!
Meanwhile, New Zealand left-hander, Rachin Ravindra who hails from the city of Bengaluru has made it to the headlines once again. The 24-year-old was the second batsman to score a century in Bangalore since 2012.
Ross Taylor was the last player from New Zealand to do so when he scored 113 off 127 balls at the same venue in Bengaluru in 2012. He brought it up in 124 balls, smashing 11 fours and two sixes. The 21-year-old becomes the 21st Kiwi batter to notch up a century in India.
