New Delhi: Olympian Neeraj Chopra continued his ‘gold run’ at the World Athletics Championship (WAC) by outclassing his rivals in the javelin throw and bringing home India’s first gold medal in the tournament.
The 25-year-old javelin champion struck gold at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest by beating his Pakistani rival Nadeem Arshad. With this, Neeraj Chopra has achieved the distinction of winning gold medal in both Olympics as well as World Championship.
Neeraj was ecstatic and thousands of his fans delighted at yet another spectacular show in Budapest, however, the javelin thrower was little disappointed for not breaching 90 metre mark.
In a couple of previous interviews, he had spoken about crossing that barrier and setting a new benchmark for the new generation.
Nevertheless, his throw of 88.17m metres found praise & admiration from all around.
The cricketing fraternity including the likes of Sacin Tendulkar, Sehwag & others were all praise for the javelin champion.
From Sachin to Sehwag to Yousuf Pathan, all took to Twitter to convey their congratulatory messages to the ace thrower and also patted his back for impressive feat.
Sehwag shared the video of Neeraj’s gold medal throw and wrote, “Fenkon toh aise fenko ki chaar log bole Kya fekta hai yaar.”
