New Delhi: The star Indian batter, who enjoyed a monstrous year in white ball cricket in 2023, seem to have no answer for his slump in red ball cricket.
Shubman Gill, in his last 10 test innings, has scored 18, 6, 10, 29, 36, 10, 2, 26, 23 and 0, meaning the young batsman has only scored 160 runs in the last ten innings, with a menial average of 16, and the highest score of 36.
If Gill fails to score a fifty in the next match, it will be 11 months straight for Gill without scoring a fifty in red ball cricket.
In the recently concluded test match against England also, Gill failed to impress fans and critics, as, according to them, Gill was not even trying to play scoring shots and looked very uncomfortable on the field.

Fans are also asking BCCI to bring back Cheteshwar Pujara, who recently scored a double century in the Ranji Trophy, and replace him with Gill at the number three spot.
Although the Indian batter has received some support in the form of Kevin Pietersen and Wasim Jaffer, but Gill will need more than that if he wants to secure his place in the playing XI of the team.
Gill and Jaiswal should open and Rohit should bat at no.3 in 2nd test in my opinion. Waiting to bat for his turn isn’t helping Shubman, it’s better he opens the inn. Rohit plays spin really well, so batting at no.3 should not worry him too much. #INDvENG

Notably, the Indian cricket team failed miserably in the first test of the Arthur De Mello test series against England, as they let the 190 runs inning lead slide and failed to chase down the 231 runs target set by the visitors to give the English side 1-0 lead in the series.
Netizens Spark Meme Fest
As soon as Gill was removed by the debutante Tom Hartley on zero in the second innings, netizens on X (Formerly known as Twitter), started to fill the social media platform with trolling posts towards the Indian batter.

Shubman Gill confidence has gone. He need a break, some motivation and support from seniors and coaching staff.
After that Gabba heroics, I can’t remember any good innings from him. He scored a hundred in Ahmedabad and that was his last decent inning. Since then he averages less… pic.twitter.com/6PlOvCzj5e— Satya Prakash (@Satya_Prakash08) January 29, 2024
