New Delhi: Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah who captained the Indian side to a 295-run win in the series opener of the Border Gavaskar Trophy has once again claimed the No. 1 ranking in Test cricket. Furthermore, the right-arm pacer has also achieved his career-best rating of 883 in the ICC rankings following his heroics in Perth which included a feisty spell of 8/72.
The right-arm test bowler was unplayable in Perth, helping India snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Bumrah produced a spell of 5 for 30 in the first innings of the Test and skittled Australia out for 104. This also helped the Indian pacer to go past South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood.
The Mumbai Indians pacer first breached the top of the test rankings earlier in February this year courtesy of a nine-wicket haul against England at home. Subsequently, Bumrah was seen at the top of the rankings briefly again in October following the Bangladesh series, before being overtaken by Rabada in recent weeks.
Jaiswal breaches test ranking in style!
Meanwhile, Bumrah’s teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal, who smashed 161 in the second innings of the Test, has moved to his career-best No. 2 ranking in the batters’ charts. Jaiswal’s latest rankings saw him moving past Zealand’s Kane Williamson and England’s Harry Brook.
He also earned a new career-best rating of 825 and is just 78 points behind the No. 1-ranked Joe Root. Jaiswal has found his footing at the top of the Indian opening with back-to-back centuries and double centuries.
