New Delhi: The Indian Men’s hockey team got the job done against the Ireland Men’s team to reach top of the Group B. On the other hand, Satwik-Chirag; the ‘Baddie Boys’ got the job done as they swept past the Indonesian pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

India Men’s Hockey team won 2-0
The Indian hockey team came out with all guns blazing as they looked to win the game convincingly. India needed to win with a convincing margin before they took on the relatively stronger opponents- Belgium and Australia.
Naturally, the Indian team needed quick goals from the start to make a quick and decisive blow. At such an important juncture India found the perfect goal-scorer in the form of Harmanpreet Singh, the captain of the Indian hockey team.

Harmanpreet Singh managed to find the net on two occasions- once in the 11th minute while the other in the 19th minute to give the team India a decisive lead which eventually became the final scoreline. Apart from Harmanpreet, India’s defence also needs a special mention as they managed to save 7 penalty corners taken by the Irish team.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showed their dominance as they won against the Indonesian pair of Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Fajar Alfian. The Indian duo wrapped up the game in 40 minutes to win the match by 21-13 and 21-13 in straight sets.
Although the Indian duo managed to win the game and qualify for the Quarterfinals, the game was a closely fought one with Ardianto and Alfian posing some major roadblocks on the way of the Indian duo.
