Prime Minister Modi wishes luck to Paris bound athletes ahead of the Olympics!

New Delhi: In a recent post from the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has requested all his countrymen to cheer for all the Olympic-bound athletes going to Paris. The Olympics which starts on the 26th of July will see many prominent athletes like Neeraj Chopra and PV Sindhu in action.

Team India’s gold quest starts on the 26th of July and will continue till August 11. The first thing that India will look to improve its tally of 7 medals. Naturally, all eyes will be on the shooting contingent which has the largest number of athletes (21 shooters in total). India will also make its debut in many different Olympic events like the dressage event where Anush Agarwalla will become the first Indian to be a part of this event and the women’s 76kg wrestling.

Modi’s call on “Mann ki Baat”

Summing up the entire performance of India, PM Modi urged his countrymen to support the athletes under the hashtag ‘cheer4Bharat’. The online campaign will provide a solid base and reach for athletes around the world.


Furthermore, the honourable PM added, “My dear countrymen, by this time next month, the Paris Olympics will have begun. I am sure that all of you would also be waiting to cheer for the Indian sportspersons in these Olympic Games. I wish the Indian team the very best for the Olympic Games. The memories of the Tokyo Olympics are still fresh in our minds.”

India has an excellent sporting journey so far in 2024. In the World Para Athletics held in Japan India had a record number of 17 medals. Following this was Rameshbabu’s sensational chess journey as he won the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2024 and became the youngest winner surpassing Ding Liren. On the other hand, India also ended its drought of an ICC trophy as well by winning the T20 World Cup. Naturally, the PM feels optimistic that this performance will be replicated in the forthcoming tournament as well.

Where to watch the Paris Olympics 2024?

Paris Olympics will be telecasted on the Sports 18 Network and the Jio cinema app. Although the official schedule starts from the 26th of July, some matches are slotted in to start from the 24th of July.
