Pune beat Mumbai by 20 runs to enter IPL final
Mumbai, May 17: Rising Pune Supergiant have entered the Final beating Mumbai Indians by 20 runs in the first qualifier played at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing 163 for win, Mumbai was restricted to 142 for 9 in 20 overs. Pune’s spin bowler Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets each to help their side win the match.
Earlier, put into bat Pune posted 162 for 4 in stipulated 20 overs. For Pune, Ajinkya Rahane 56 off 43 and Manoj Tiwary 58 off 48 revived Pune’s innings following a bad start before Dhoni finished the innings on a high note, hammering 40 off 26 balls.
Mumbai still has a chance to reach in the Final. They will play in the 2nd Qualifier on Friday against winner of tomorrow’s eliminator which is between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
