By storming into final, Pragg became the youngest player to achieve this feat. Even in the semis, he defeated the World Number 3 and American Grand Master Fabiano Caruana, after a nerve wracking tie-break.

Praggnanandhaa became a sensation on the social media, after booking a place for himself in the Chess world Cup final. Umpteen fans of the game along with chess enthusiasts lauded the young prodigy for amazing feat.
Notably, Pragga is only the second Indian chess player, after Vishwanathan Anand to reach the World-Cup final.

The FIDE World Chess Cup final will be held on Tuesday (August 22). Praggnanandhaa would be eyeing his first WC title in today’s contest but the challenge is immense as his rival is five-times World champion, Magnus Carlsen. He defeated his Azerbaijan rival to reach finals.

Notably, Praggnanandhaa is among the youngest player to sail into finals.

Pragg’s reaction before final bout

Praggnanadhaa was ecstatic and jubilant after winning the semi-final. In his media interaction, he also said that he wasn’t expecting to meet Carlsen in final.

“I didn’t expect to play Magnus in this tournament at all because the only way I could play him was in the final, and I didn’t expect to be in the final. I will just try to give my best and see how it goes!,” Praggnanandhaa said after winning semis -final match.
