New Delhi: Indiaโ€™s no. 1 badminton menโ€™s duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost against the Malaysian duo of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.

What happened in the game?

The Indian duo looked to remove the jinx surrounding them as they closed the first game 21-13 in their favour. However, the Malaysian came back strongly in the next set to kill the game 14-21. But it was the third game which pulled the fans on the edge of their seats. Going into the mid-game interval 9-11, the Indian duo extended the lead to 9-13. However, when it looked like the match would swing in favour of the Indian duo, the Malaysian duo came from behind to tie the score 15-15.

Subsequently, Soh and Aaron managed to win 4 points on the trot to close the game 21-16 in the third set. This will be their second finish in the last four after their bronze medal finish in the Tokyo Olympics 2024.

The Indian duo who were coming into the game with a relative disadvantage in the head-to-head records succumbed to the pressure in the end. Subsequently, Aaron/Soh will now face the World No. 1, the Chinese pair of Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang.
