The hosts made 288 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in stipulated 50 overs.
Bhuvaneswar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2 wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket. Australia had won the toss and opted to bat.
