New Delhi: After taking care of the Indian batting order at the top, Virender Sehwag looks to add firepower to the Congress Party as he seems to start his innings in politics. Sehwag will be helping the Congress candidate from the Tosham constituency, Anirudh Chaudhary.

The former Indian batsman urged the voters to show confidence in Chaudhary. Speaking about Anirudh, Sehwag said in a video.

I consider him as my elder brother, and his father, Ranbir Singh Mahendra, who also served as BCCI president, had supported me a lot. This is one of the most important days for him, and I feel I would be able to help him…

Sehwag’s entry into the Haryana Polls has added a fresh dynamic to the closely contested constituency which has been blotted by family rivalries and dynastic legacies.

Who is Anirudh Chaudhary?

Anirudh Chaudhary aged 48 is the son of former BCCI president Ranbir Mahendra and the grandson of four-time Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal. Chaudhary is set to contest from the Tosham constituency and will be taking on his cousin Shruti Chaudhary. Shruti is the daughter of Bansi Lal’s younger son Surender Singh and will be the BJP candidate. Naturally, the fight in Tosham will be a crossover of politics and sizzling family dynamics.

Vinesh Phogat also enters the ‘Haryana Dangal’…

Meanwhile, former Olympic wrestler Vinesh Phogat is all set to be contesting the Haryana polls from Julana. On the other hand,  Bajrang Puia is set to assume the position of the president of the Kisan Congress.

However, the entry of both Olympic stars has not been accepted by rivals from the sporting and political fraternity. Supporters of the ruling party who belong to the sporting and wrestling fraternity have vented out against Phogat and Punia’s decision to join Congress and help them in the polls.

The Congress party won’t mind all that mud-slinging if they manage to win the Haryana polls courtesy of the star power which has thrown its weight to stabilise their capsizing ship.
