Watch: Netizens react as Ravindra Jadeja brings “Thala’s” keeping skills to the field

India's no.1 all-rounder and fielder Ravindra Jadeja pulled off a stunner on Day 3 to run out Will O'Rourke.

New Delhi: India’s no.1 all-rounder and fielder Ravindra Jadeja pulled off a stunner on Day 3 to run out Will O’Rourke. O’Rourke was the last New Zealand batter and his wicket meant that the Kiwis were bundled out for 255 in the second innings.

When did the incident occur?

The incident happened on the 4th ball of the 70th over of New Zealand’s innings. Glenn Phillips and Will O’Rourke tried to steal a couple of runs after the former hit Jadeja’s short-pitched delivery towards deep cover. While it seemed that Phillips and O’Rourke would settle for a single, Washington Sundar was a bit late to react.

Phillips and Will O’Rourke tried to outplay the Indian fielders and sneak in a couple of runs. Moreover, since the throw wasn’t accurate from Sundar either, it seemed that O’Rourke would reach the non-striker’s end without any trouble.

Thala effect!!

However, Ravindra Jadeja who is known for on-field athleticism showed great awareness as he directed the ball towards the stump. The decision was referred to the third umpire and the replays showed that O’Rourke was just short of his crease when the bails went off.

Jadeja’s quick thinking and innovative way to run out O’Rourke earned him the comparison with his fellow CSK player Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

MS Dhoni or Ravindra Jadeja?
