New Delhi: In a recent Instagram post, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has put out a post celebrating Jasprit Bumrah’s latest triumph in the ICC Test Rankings. Bumrah ended the test with 11 wickets in the 2-match test series against Bangladesh. Although Ashwin and Bumrah both clinched 11 wickets with the former notching up a century as well in the Chennai Test, it was Bumrah who reached the pinnacle of the Test rankings according to the rules.
The rules of the ICC Test Rankings-
A player is rated on a scale of 0 to 1000 points. If a player’s performance is improving on his past record, his points increase; if his performance is declining his points will go down. The value of each player’s performance within a match is calculated using an algorithm, a series of calculation…There is no human intervention in this calculation process, and no subjective assessment is made. There are slightly difference factors for each of the different formats of the game.
