Earlier, Bhaker had gained a lot of social media attention after she became the first individual Olympic Indian athlete in the 124-year history of India to win consecutive Olympic medals in the same edition of the Games. Furthermore, she has also become the third Indian after Sushil Kumar (Beijing 2008, London 2012) and PV Sindhu (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020) to win 2 Olympic medals. Neeraj Chopra who clinched silver yesterday night in the men’s Javelin Throw Final is the latest entry to this list.
Extremely humbled by the support and wishes that have been pouring in. This is something that I’ve always dreamt of. Proud to perform at the biggest stage for my country 🇮🇳 ❤️ pic.twitter.com/8U6sHOLulR
