New Delhi: Delhi Capitals was the first team to qualify for the finals and Mumbai Indians beat UP Warriorz in the playoffs to book their spot. It is once again Meg Lanning vs Harmanpreet Kaur and both captains held a pre-finals press conference. The captains talked about their strengths and playing the high-pressure game at the Brabourne Stadium on March 26.
Birthday girl Meg Lanning observed MI as a ‘massive challenge’ and backed Shafali Verma to come to the field with a fresh mind. Lanning said that they know that MI can be dangerous and have great players, but they are confident to win the finals. She added that things have not always gone in their favour and have been pushed back, which helped them to prepare for such games.
She said that the team has played with smiles on their faces and this will be her message to the girls to make the most out of the opportunity as no one knows if they will get to experience this next time. Shafali Verma has been a good opening partner to Lanning and has scored two fifties in the tournament. Talking about her, the DC skipper said that batting with her has been fun and her unique style works for her.
Lanning hoped that Shafali will come to the game with a clear mind and take the game on so that she can spectate from the other end. Lanning also said that fielding will be a key aspect to win the finals.
Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged that Verma and Lanning are a great pair and have done well against MI. She said that they have their plans and hope to execute them in the finals. Kaur added that they have many leaders in the team as some of them have been captains and vice-captains at some level.
Harmanpreet also spoke about the team environment and said that the team has been doing well and some of the players also did well in South Africa, in the T20 World Cup, so they have a positive environment in the camp.
MI and DC have faced each other twice in the tournament and won one game each. The final is the ultimate battle and both teams will try to come out on the top. The high-voltage clash will be played at 7:30 pm on March 26, Sunday at the Brabourne Stadium.
