Mumbai: Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from International cricket on Monday. India’s 2011 World Cup hero last donned the Indian colours in 2017 during a T20I match against England, which India won by 75 runs.

After 25 years in and around the 22 yards and almost 17 years of international cricket on and off, I have decided to move on. This game taught me how to fight, how to fall, to dust off, to get up again and move forward.

“It is an emotional moment for me…there could not have been a better time for this,” said Yuvraj.

Since my childhood I’ve always tried to fulfill my father’s dream to play for India and win the World Cup and I can say I was lucky to achieve it: Yuvraj.

Yuvraj Singh had last played a Test in 2012 and One Day International (ODI) and T20 in 2017. He scored 8701 runs in 304 ODIs and hit 1900 runs in 40 Tests.
