In an unprecedented action, the EC cut short the campaign period in West Bengal by a day for the final phase of Lok Sabha elections in view of the violence during BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow on Tuesday.
Through a video message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted at not campaigning in Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency, ahead of the seventh phase of polling.
Campaigning came to a close on Friday evening for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha polls in 59 constituencies spread across seven states on May 12.
All parliamentary constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep, Telangana and Uttarakhand will go to polls in this phase.
Assembly Elections in four states - Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Odisha will also be held on the 11th of this month.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the head guard of the country. All of BJP workers are included in the army of the chowkidars. My wish is that our government is formed and Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister again," Uma said.
