Addressing a press conference after meeting Governor Koshyari, BJP's Maharashtra unit chief Chandrakant Patil said, "We will not form the government in the state."

Pankaja, daughter of former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Gopinath Munde defeated Dhananjay by a margin of around 25,000 votes in 2014 Assembly polls.

The Congress party is contesting Maharashtra Assembly polls in alliance with the NCP. The state will go to polls on October 21. The counting of votes will take place on October 24.

BJP is contesting Maharashtra Assembly polls in alliance with Shiv Sena and RPI while Congress is in alliance with Sharad Pawar led NCP.

Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar has been fielded from Ballarpur. The son of BJP leader and Union Minister Rao Saheb Danave, Santosh Danve Patil will contest from Bhokardan constituency.

Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil who quit Congress and joined BJP recently will be contesting from Shirdi whereas State Minister Girish Mahajan has been given ticket from Jamner.

The Election Commission of India has announced single-phase voting for Maharashtra Assembly elections on October 21 and the counting of votes is scheduled on October 24 (

Addressing media here on Saturday, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said notification will be issued on September 27, the last date of nomination will be on October 4 and the last date for withdrawal of application is October 7.

Earlier, the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee had urged masses to pitch in ideas for its manifesto for the elections. The BJP came to power in the state in the last Assembly elections.
