Watch: Ravi Shastri chuckles as New Zealand’s Ian Smith gets trolls for Kiwi team’s CWC loss against India, netizens react

New Delhi: After a dreamy triumph in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India, the mighty Australian team kickstarted their home summer of cricket with a three-match test series against Pakistan on 14 December in Perth’s Optus stadium.

During the first day of the opening test between the two green teams, match commentators Australia’s Kerry O Keeffe and New Zealand’s Ian Smith engaged in a hilarious interaction with one another that left their companion Ravi Shastri, who was also part of the commentary panel, laughing his lungs out. A video of the same is now doing rounds on the internet.

Kerry O Kefee trolls Ian Smith

In the video, the former Aussie cricketer Kerry can be seen narrating the story of Pak pacer Shaheen Afridi’s elder brother Riyaz Afridi who used to stay away from food for two days whenever Pakistan lost a game.

He then quickly asks Ian Smith how many days he didn’t eat after New Zealand lost to India in the semi-finals of CWC 2023. This got all three commentators to burst into laughter before Iam collected himself and said, “That’s a seriously early punch”

Kerry then continued with his joke and said that Ian ate for 48 hours after New Zealand lost the match, making the entire commentary box chuckle one more time.

Here’s how fans are reacting to the viral video:

David Warner silences critics with historical Ton against Pakistan

Meanwhile, veteran Australian cricketer David Warner, who is playing the last test series of his career, smashed Pakistani bowlers from right left, and center to score another remarkable century (164 off 211 balls) and celebrated the same with his typical ‘punch in the air’ gesture.

However, the southpaw’s century celebration was quickly followed by a cryptic shushing gesture that he made while facing the media area. Fans are now seeing Warner’s shushing gesture as a befitting reply to his critics, including his ex-teammate Michel Johnson.

For those who don’t know, Australian paceman Mitchell Johnson recently made a statement in which he came down heavy on David Warner. The former cricketer said that David does not deserve to get a farewell test series as he stigmatized the entire country by being a part of 2018’s infamous Ball tampering scandal.
