New Delhi: Many a time, when buying a phone, a lot of effort goes into choosing its colour. Well, the colour you choose for your smartphone, reflects your personality traits. People, who often tend to regard smartphones being just a device, opt for the basic black and white colours that every smartphone comes in. However, many people like colourful phones which is why most smartphone brands are coming up with various colours.

Colour psychologist, Mathew explained in a blog post how a person’s phone colour reflects his personality. Here’s what each colour means:

White

Mathew stated that if your phone is white, then you must be a cleanliness freak. People who opt for white coloured phones may be non-judgemental, open about things, and have high standards. He stated, “White is associated with simplicity, which could suggest that’s what the owner is looking for.”

Black

Most people prefer black coloured smartphones as it is the safest colour and the colour looks stylish on all phones. Also, if you opt for black, you might not have to worry about fingerprints and smudges as the black colour hides all of that pretty well. According to Mathew, people who pick black have attributes such as sophistication, professionalism, power, and elegance. He stated, “Choosing black may also be a desire for privacy and to be unseen, it could be a strong indicator of survival instincts at play.”

Blue

It is the most preferred colours on phones after white and black. Blue coloured iPhones reflect elegance and everything posh. Mathew notifies in his blog that people who buy blue-coloured smartphones are reserved, calm and not looking for attention. Besides, the colour also resonates with in-depth thinking, being careful, thinking before acting, being efficient and conservative. “Blue is rarer for a phone color than black or white, which could suggest a desire to be unique, and an expression of their taste. If it’s a dark blue phone it would suggest they were not looking for attention and they may have some creative talents or tendencies,” he said.

Red

Red coloured smartphones can be hardly found in markets. However, iPhone’s red colour has a good popularity. The red colour is associated with physical energy, competitiveness, lust, impulsiveness, and aggressiveness. It is mostly picked by those people who seek attention and have an outgoing personality. They are likely to be more expressive as people and they do not think about what others are thinking.

Gold

As per Mathew, gold is associated with wealth, status-seeking, generosity, and materialism. People who bear gold-colored smartphones are likely to be conscious of their social status. They want others to know how successful they are financially and have a special liking for luxurious things.
