What is the one word that answers all the questions of our lives making it a bit easier? No, you don’t need to do a Google search for it as the answer is Google itself. The search giant is celebrating its 23rd birthday on Monday. The special occasion is commemorated with a special doodle that showcased a chocolate frosted cake doodle on its home page.
In the past, it has been witnessed multiple times that Google doodles celebrate the special occasion of history or commemorate iconic personalities with full enthusiasm and vibrancy. This time, the cake-themed doodle is placed on the top of the page with the year 23 written on it while it replaces the letter ‘L’ from the word Google with the candle.

As a part of their Ph.D. project, the founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin invented Google in September 1998. Initially, the duo ideated the firm in 1995. A year later, they allegedly built a search engine naming it ‘BackRub.’ This search engine used links to determine the importance of individual web pages. The founders set out for the name Google which is a misspelling of Googol, meaning one with hundred zeros.
“In 1997, Sergey Brin, a graduate student at Stanford University, just so happened to be assigned to show Larry Page, who was considering Stanford for graduate school at the time, around campus. By the next year, the two Google co-Founders were building a search engine together in their dorm rooms and developing their first prototype. In 1998, Google Inc. was officially born,” read the post on the Google Doodle blog.
Though Google was founded in 1998, the company celebrated its birthday on that day for the first seven years. Later, the celebration was shifted to September 27 to coexist with the record number of pages’ announcement that this search giant was indexing.
“Every day, there are billions of searches on Google in more than 150 languages around the globe,” Google said in the post.
Reportedly, the brand has over 90% market share as a preferred search engine. Besides, the server is installed in more than 20 data centres all around the world.
