Xiaomi launches Anti-Pollution Mask in India
New Delhi: Xiaomi has announced the Mi AirPOP PM2.5 Anti-Pollution Mask in India. The mask is the newest product in the expanding fitness and wellness space. The company already sells Mi Air Purifiers in the country. It is not a myth that India has some of the most polluted cities in the world and use of masks like these will allow people to avoid inhaling polluted air. The company is using the statement “Breathe Healthy. Stay Healthy” as a tagline to promote the product in the country.
The Mi AirPOP PM2.5 Anti-Pollution Mask is priced at Rs 249, which makes it cheaper than conventional masks available in the country. The Anti-Pollution Mask will be available for purchase starting 12:00PM on mi.com today. It is not clear whether Xiaomi will have them in enough numbers during the sale. At the time of writing, we could not see any listing for the product on Xiaomi’s main website in India.
Pollution in Delhi
Delhi has unfavourable meteorological conditions that kept the air quality in the ‘severe’ category in the month of December.
While the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed the overall air quality index (AQI) at ‘severe’ level of 446, the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting (SAFAR) showed a higher level at 471, said a report in PTI.
An AQI between 100 to 200 comes under the ‘moderate’ category, 201 and 300 is considered ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, while that between 401 and 500 is ‘severe’.
According to experts, under the ‘severe’ category, even healthy people find it hard to breathe and doctors advise physical activity to be kept at a minimum.
