Abhishek Sharma silences critics with blistering half-century in the third T20I

New Delhi: Abhishek Sharma has silenced his critics by hitting a scintillating half-century in the third T20I against South Africa. The left-hand opener came out firing on all pistons to entertain the crowd present at the Centurion.

Sharma blasted the South African bowlers from the word go to bring up a 24-ball 50. In his brief and explosive stay at the crease, Sharma hit 5 sixes and 3 fours.

Abhishek was dismissed identically to the way he had paced his innings throughout. In an attempt to hit big, Sharma charged down the track to spinner Keshav Maharaj but missed the ball and was stumped by wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen.

Abhishek redeems himself from poor form

Sharma has been going through a rough patch in recent times. After finding his footing during the Zimbabwe series with a stunning century, the left-hander experienced a drought in the runs in his next 8 innings. The left-hander did not exceed the 20-run mark as well during this time.

In total, he has managed to score only 70 runs which included three single-digit scores. Despite being given the responsibility to open the batting, he has struggled to provide India with a solid start that the team expects from him.

Subsequently, in the first T20I, Abhishek could only manage to score 7 runs, followed by a mere 4 runs in the second innings at Port Elizabeth. However, the southpaw has redeemed himself perfectly and will look to make a similar impact in the 4th T20I.
