Lord Ganesha was born Chaturthi Tithi in the month of Bhadrapada of the Hindu calendar and this we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi during the period in honour.
The Ganesh Visarjan usually is a grand ceremony attended by thousands of devotees, who flock the streets as Bappa sets out on his journey to his heavenly abode
Do not carry out the visarjan rituals at an inappropriate time
Do not send Bappa to his heavenly abode without giving him food that he would need during his return journey.
Do not give a farewell to Bappa without singing the aarti
Do not close the door of your house after Lord Ganesha is taken out for the visarjan
One member of the family must stay back at home and keep the door open until the family returns after the immersion
If possible, devotees must carry out the immersion process at home in a bucket or a drum
If the idol cannot be immersed at home, then, those staying close to natural water bodies such as ponds and lakes can go to the designated site for the immersion. And those staying closer to artificial ponds and water tanks can head to such authorised spots for the visarjan
The concluding puja and aarti must be performed at home and not at the visarjan site
