The day provides an opportunity to show appreciation towards senior citizens for their dedication, accomplishments, and services they give throughout their lives.
This day is also known as National Senior Citizens' Day
The day is observed with the intent to highlight the contributions of elderly people in human society and honour them.
On August 19, 1988, then US President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation declaring August 21 as Senior Citizen’s Day in the country
The same has been observed globally as well since then.
We all have one or more elderly people in our life whom we dearly love and appreciate.
The day was instituted by Ronald Reagan, former President of the United States, after he signed a Proclamation on 19 August 1988.
The World Senior Citizen’s Day is a great occasion to remind ourselves and the governments the contributions of the senior citizens.
